Hospital Pets

Maee

Chief Morale Officer & Fashion Icon

Bio

Species: Canine (Boss Status: Permanent)

Maee became the beloved boss of Marina Animal Clinic in 2019, arriving under heartbreaking circumstances but quickly proving herself to be a symbol of strength, resilience, and—let’s be honest—style. Rescued by a Good Samaritan after a serious car accident, Maee overcame multiple fractures and now lives with permanent nerve damage. But don’t let that fool you—her spark, sass, and spirit remain absolutely unstoppable.

Known affectionately as the clinic’s Chief Morale Officer, Maee’s daily mission is simple: bring smiles, boost morale, and look fabulous while doing it. She enjoys weekly spa visits, has a wardrobe that rivals Hollywood, and more collars, bows, and accessories than most humans could ever dream of. From chic to sassy, her outfits always match her mood.

Her favorite activities include tug-of-war battles, barking at those she’s decided she’s not a fan of, and dressing up to greet her favorite humans—Lacy, Mariann, Heather, Autumn, Toni,  and Jen—with full tail wags and attitude. She’s especially excited when she spots a staff member sneaking in on their day off (she always knows).

Maee is small in size but huge in personality. She demands the last word, adds spunk to every room she enters, and sometimes gets a little naughty—not that she’d ever admit it.

Fun Fact: Maee’s closet has officially run out of space. We’re not kidding.

Bonny Gonzo

Keeper of the Rags & Resident Diva

Bio

Species: Feline (Polydactyl Royalty)

Bonny Gonzo became a beloved part of the Marina Animal Clinic family in 2020 under dramatic (and very Bonny-esque) circumstances. Left at our back door after hours, her grand entrance didn’t go unnoticed—one of our veterinarians happened to be dining across the street and witnessed her arrival. It was fate.

With extra toes that give her a charming waddle and a polydactyl strut, Bonny brings character to every corner of the clinic. Despite being asthmatic and having a heart condition, she lives life with full “catitude” and is lovingly cared for by our devoted veterinarians and staff.

Bonny is highly food-motivated and possesses a sixth sense for detecting open cans—expect a dramatic entrance and loud meows if food is involved. She will find you.

She’s known for her luxurious long hair, which requires regular grooming (a process she despises), and her signature sleeping spot: a cozy basket of washcloths, earning her the prestigious title of Keeper of the Rags. With a permanently judgmental stare and the attitude of a queen, Bonny keeps us all in line—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Fun Fact: Bonny has never missed the sound of a can being opened. Ever.

Ms. Claws

Mischief Coordinator & Mail Basket Monitor

Bio

Joined: December 2024
Species: Domestic Feline (Tiny, Mighty, and Unbothered)

Ms. Claws joined Marina Animal Clinic during the holiday season of 2024, arriving as a spunky little kitten with a name that suits her perfectly—and not just because of the timing. From the start, she made it clear: this was her clinic now.

Bursting with personality, Ms. Claws has become the clinic’s resident mischief-maker and entertainment specialist. One of her favorite activities includes sneaking into the Practice Manager’s office, opening the supply drawer, and liberating every rubber band she can find—only to distribute them like festive confetti throughout the building.

When she’s not redecorating the clinic, she can often be found perched in her favorite spot: the outgoing mail basket. This daily power move forces the mail carrier to ask her politely to vacate the premises while she stares up with complete indifference. Classic Ms. Claws.
She’s also known for staging surprise hide-and-seek sessions, vanishing just long enough to send the staff into a mild panic—before casually reappearing as if nothing happened. Though she hates being put up in her kennel at night, it’s a nightly negotiation we endure… for her safety (and our sanity).

Ms. Claws brings laughter, love, and a whole lot of rubber bands to our days. She is endlessly entertaining, irresistibly cute, and deeply adored by the entire Marina Animal Clinic family.

Fun Fact: Ms. Claws has never once retrieved a rubber band—but she insists we do.

Hippo

The Hoppin’, Talkin’, Toy-Stealin’ Superstar of Marina Animal Clinic!

Bio

Hippo bounced into our lives in 2021 after a rough ride—getting hit by a car—but he’s been hopping, playing, and stealing hearts ever since! This goofy guy is a master toy thief, a food fanatic, and a professional chatterbox (seriously, he talks all the time).

Fun Fact: Hippo knows how to tell time! He’s the clinic’s official lunch and closing time alarm. “If it’s not snack o’clock, what’s the point?”
He’s got a wardrobe that would make a fashionista jealous—bandanas, collars, PJs, rain jackets, you name it. Baths? Love ‘em. Nail trims and ear cleanings? No thanks, but he puts up with it (barely).

Hippo’s a kid magnet and a total sweetheart—unless you’re another animal, then it’s a no-go. His absolute favorite person? Toni, but he’s also big fans of Lettie, Alicia, Autumn, Aaron, Makayla, and Nicole.

When he’s not busy supervising clinic shenanigans, Hippo is living his best life on trips to Taco Bueno, Ross, Yogu, the park, Petco, and of course, Starbucks for his signature pup cups.

Hippo says:

  • “More snacks, please!”
  • “Toys belong to me, all of them.”
  • “I know when it’s time for fun… and nap time.”

Georgia “Bean”

The Elusive Queen of Marina Animal Clinic

Bio

Georgia Bean has been a treasured resident of Marina Animal Clinic since 2013, joining our family after surviving a traumatic accident. Found injured and alone, she was rescued by our founder, Dr. George Haggerty, who was determined to save her life after discovering a serious bladder injury. Thanks to the expert care and relentless dedication of our veterinary team, Georgia made a full recovery — and never left.

And we’re so glad she stayed.

Affectionately known as “Bean,” she’s our longest-standing resident and perhaps our most mysterious. A true “fraidy cat,” Georgia prefers the quiet life — hiding in her favorite cat trees and only gracing select staff members with her love and attention. But when she decides she wants affection? She wants it to death.

Fun Facts About Georgia Bean:

  • She has no tail — she’s a proud “rumpy” who hops like a bunny when she runs.
  • She’s a silent meower, but her purrs are nonstop and loud enough to make up for it.
  • She’s a certified “speed pooper”: she does her business and dashes away like her life depends on it.
  • Her escape attempt from Dr. Haggerty’s home is legendary — featuring carrier acrobatics and a daring retreat behind the washer and dryer.

Needless to say, she’s been ruling the clinic ever since.

Despite her shy nature, Georgia has a heart full of love (and sass). She’ll curl up in your lap, knead your clothes with devotion, and look up at you with eyes that say, “You may pet me. Briefly.”

Favorite Pastime: Disappearing into cat trees.
Least Favorite Thing: Being moved from anywhere she’s decided to sit.
Claim to Fame: Longest-standing staff member and proudest purr-er.
Clinic Role: Spirit of the clinic. Emotional support for those deemed worthy.

Georgia Bean may be quiet, but her presence is mighty. She’s living proof that love, healing, and a safe space can bring out the best in even the shyest souls.

Sirr Gumbo joined Marina Animal Clinic in 2024, weighing in at a majestic 38 pounds and capturing all our hearts from the moment he waddled through the door. He was more than just a cat—he was a presence. A story. A symbol of transformation, resilience, and unconditional love.

Affectionately dubbed the “Heavyweight Champion of the Clinic,” Sirr Gumbo embarked on a health journey like no other. With a custom diet, daily “treadmill” walks, and gentle encouragement from our team, he shed over 15 pounds, becoming the vibrant, playful soul, we all came to know so well. His journey wasn’t just physical—it was emotional, inspiring, and deeply touching to witness.

Sirr Gumbo had a personality that could fill a room. He always knew when it was feeding time (and made sure we knew too!). He greeted us with his signature sandpaper kisses, curled up on his favorite napping thrones, and purred like a motor whenever someone dared to give him a belly rub. Baths? Not his favorite. But like the gentleman he was, he endured them with quiet dignity.

He shared a particularly special bond with Ms. Claws and held a cherished place in the hearts of Mariann, Heather, Theresa, and Amiee. Even at his fittest, he never let us forget that, in his eyes, snack time was always just around the corner.

Sirr Gumbo’s legacy is one of transformation—proof that with love, patience, and a little humor, every soul can find their light again. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing he spent his final year surrounded by love, warmth, belly rubs, and endless affection.

We will forever miss his soft eyes, gentle spirit, and the way he made every day at the clinic just a little brighter.

💬 Sirr Gumbo’s Eternal Quotes:

“Feed me… again?”
“I may be slimmer, but my appetite is still grand.”
“Belly rubs are non-negotiable.”

Rest well, sweet Gumbo. You were one of a kind. 💙
